There are wonderful things happening in downtown Gloversville and 2017 is going to put a spotlight on them like never before!

The Twilight Market season started off with a bang on Friday night in downtown Gloversville. Despite the stormy forecast, community members headed downtown to enjoy live music, fresh food, artisan goods and more. Activities were spread throughout downtown including the Farmers Market Pavilion, Micropolis Art Gallery, Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market, and the Glove Theater.

“We are really encouraged by the amount of people that came out for the Twilight Market,” said Jennifer Jennings, Downtown Development Specialist. “The weather in August will be sunny and warm and we will be able to have the market as intended along North Main Street. “Our goal is to bring people downtown for a wonderful evening out, to walk up and down North Main Street and see our City as vibrant and fun.”

Event organizers estimate that around 450 people attended the activities across the three venues during the 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Twilight Market. Numbers are expected to increase as the Twilight Market season progresses.

“The Twilight Market highlights what makes downtown Gloversville a great place to live, work, and live,” said Ron Peters, President and CEO of Fulton County Center for Regional Growth, a key organizer of the event. “Downtown activities draw foot traffic, foot traffic draws businesses, and businesses draw residents. Events like the Twilight Market showcase Gloversville as a place people want to be and we are excited for what the future holds.”

The next Twilight Market will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The theme of the August market will be Glove City Day and will feature historic walking tours, Glove City trivia, an ice cream social, the Downtown BID sponsored Kid’s Chalk Contest, live music, famers market, and more.

Event sponsors include Key Partner, Nathan Littauer Hospital, major sponsor, Fulton County Board of Realtors, and friends of the market, Fulmont Community Church, Micropolis Cooperative, Inc., NBT Bank, Patriot Federal Bank, Shannon Rose Design, and WEST & Company CPAs PC.
