More Than a Place to Work:
The Renaissance of Fulton County Living
Why quality of life is becoming our strongest economic asset.
In economic development, we often talk about acreage, megawatts, and tax incentives. But as we close out the year, we want to focus on the statistic that matters most to the humans behind the businesses: Quality of Life.
In our recent articles, we uncovered how Fulton County is transforming into a premier destination to live, play, and create. Here are the “Greatest Hits” of our community revitalization efforts:
1. Housing Sparking a Renaissance
Revitalization starts with a place to call home. We deep-dived into the Glove City Lofts project—a $21 million investment transforming a vacant space into 75 upscale, artist-friendly apartments.
This project isn’t just about housing; it is about using the arts to ignite downtown Gloversville, creating the foot traffic that local entrepreneurs need to thrive.
2. Embracing New Industries
We featured the explosive growth of the cannabis industry, specifically Veterans Hemp Market and Veterans Holdings.
By navigating complex regulations and securing manufacturing licenses, local entrepreneurs are turning Fulton County into a production powerhouse, proving that we have the ecosystem to support highly regulated, high-growth sectors.
2. World-Class Recreation in Our Backyard
We celebrated the Centennial of the Northville-Placid Trail, a 138-mile gem that winds through the darkest, wildest skies in the Adirondacks.
We also explored the adrenaline-fueled success of Wheelerville Trails, which has become a magnet for mountain bikers from across the Northeast.
These assets don’t just offer fun; they drive tourism revenue and make our region attractive to remote workers and young professionals.

3. A Community That Builds Together
From the volunteer efforts maintaining our trails to the “History & Heart” of our downtowns, the common thread in our stories this year has been community stewardship.
For hospitality business owners, this engagement translates to vibrant events, full bookings, and a supportive local network.
4. The Work-Life Balance Advantage
As we highlighted in our site selection analysis, “Quality of place is a really important underpinning for talent attraction”.
Fulton County offers a unique proposition: the affordability to build a business and the landscape to enjoy your life.
